What Is A Blueprint Slide

Ten (possible) reasons for the sadness of thought Mephisto

Thanks to my good friend Hector came to my hands a great book of French intellectual and naturalized American George Steiner entitled Ten (possible) reasons for the sadness of thought , published by the Fondo de Cultura Economica within your collection Mockingbird.

83 pages in Dr. Steiner, aims to raise awareness of the limitations of understanding that human beings have the vastness and outline briefly the different faces of our main activity in life, thinking.

The person always lives in an eternal longing, a deep and indestructible melancholy, a background noise due to the smallness that represents the absolute. This leads to thinking about thinking, which leads us to run into several limitations that cause sadness, because we can not go beyond the search new outlets would take us all our lives and if we had other, we will not suffice.

There are some, of his 10 reasons, which I would highlight:

1. What we surely have thought millions of people before, and that human knowledge is limited, and we all take turns within these limits, the above remains room for originality, creativity.

2. Thinking is the activity that we spend more time in our lives, but is the least productive. Few thoughts are transformed into tangible benefits for our lives, and fewer (if any) that benefits humanity. In short we waste our thoughts, maybe that's why there are many who prefer to use this power to a minimum.

3. Despite the knowledge we have, our thoughts are always full of subjectivity, because we build according to our beliefs and circumstances. This approach takes us away from the truth.

4. Thought is not the same for everyone, not democratic, not even a desirable minimum standard, in our society are obviously brilliant people and other idiots.

5. The knowledge that a person can have for another is very low, since it knows only what is shown by outward expressions, ie you can not really know what you think and therefore it is.

6. The Language, writing, arts and all kinds of external manifestations of our thoughts are limited, which results in a disability in the expression of thought.

This essay is divided into 10 parts, 10 reasons, each of them invites us to reflect on something that we always value and may not reach, that even limited, enables us to keep in constant pursuit of happiness.
